Junior Infrastructure Engineer (Tech Support)

The job in a nutshell

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and multi skilled Junior Infrastructure Engineer to act as a functional escalation from Tech Desk, providing effective incident management support and request fulfilment for all production infrastructure and desktop support requests in our growing London office.

We were recently admitted to the LSE and through the successful acquisition of MyVoucherCodes, are looking to continue our recent success and growth. You will be instrumental in ensuring the business and stakeholders are effectively supported through exemplifying a strength in knowledge of IT technologies and processes, with a can-do attitude and approach to assist the end user community with any Tech and office related queries.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

Essential Qualifications:

  • Microsoft MCSA or equivalent experience.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in an IT support role.
Essential Knowledge and Experience:
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting virtual hardware and software technologies e.g. Vmware, Hypervisors, Cloud (Microsoft Azure)
  • Good knowledge of web-based technologies e.g. IIS, .Net.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills.Previous experience in a technical support role in a web-based or financial services company.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL processes, specifically incident, change and problem management.
  • Basic understanding of network/security technologies from an end-user perspective, such as the use of web proxy, mail gateways, network access and firewall technologies.
  • Customer-focused to deliver the best service possible.
  • Knowledge of patch and application deployment requirements and tool sets using regular patching cycle and reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience of Active Directory, Windows Server and MSSQL technologies in a support context

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Acts as a functional escalation point and triage for infrastructure and database production incidents and requests from the Tech Desk.
  • Carries out basic administration duties resulting from incidents, requests and changes across all relevant infrastructure technologies, including but not limited to: firewall policies, network access, Active Directory, email filtering and telephony.
  • Deploys and maintains operating system (and other) patches, following monthly patching cycle in line with company policy and including compliance reporting.
  • Troubleshoots, researches and documents fault diagnosis and fixes, as required.
  • Maintains monitoring and alerting systems in line with company policy.
  • Owns moves/adds/changes to ensure infrastructure systems are proactively and effectively maintained.
  • Ensures communications rooms, structured cabling and end-user services are maintained to best practice levels.
  • Accountable for all MVC service management needs, ensuring MVC service stability and performance is maintained.

Who you’ll be working with

  • Works closely with wider tech team on a daily basis
  • Works with IT Security to ensure security compliance
  • Key tech liaison between MVC colleagues and management and the GoCompare Tech and Data Engineering functions.
