The job in a nutshell

Do you want to be the subject matter expert for all things SEO for GoCompare? Do you want to be responsible for delivering a market beating strategy with a strong focus on results and driving performance?

GoCompare are recruiting for a Head of SEO to join us on a fixed term contract for up to 12 months. You’ll be leading a team which is heavily targeted and results focussed and will support with the individual development of our highly talented SEO team. You’ll have a great understanding of what it is like to lead and drive SEO for a well-known brand, with focus on the financial services sector.

If you are able to demonstrate experience specialising in SEO with expert knowledge across technical, content and offsite, able to plan strategically using data insights and have experience of delivering performance insights regularly then this could be the role for you!

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

  • Experience of using first and third party data insights to build a detailed roadmap across all areas of SEO.
  • Exposure on highly competitive verticals with demonstrable results in achieving high exposure for the highest volume search queries.
  • Strong analytical skills with shown ability to analyse performance and identify root cause.
  • Experience using a range of SEO tools, specifically with regards to crawling sites, market insights and supervising performance.
  • Google Analytics, Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools experience.
  • Good articulation skills; able to communicate insights, recommendations and impact on performance clearly.
  • Team and partner management skills.

What you’ll be responsible for

First are foremost you’ll be the senior subject matter expert for all things SEO, you’ll identify improvement strategies, understand how well the work is progressing, understand any barriers and understand what is doing well. As the voice for the SEO team, delivering trading updates regularly to the wider business, providing key data around channel performance insights, trends and really understand the impact of what we are doing does, might and could have!

You’ll also:

  • Grow the SEO revenue to match or exceed business case expectations for GoCompare.
  • Ensure all SEO activity aligns with all major search engines and their Terms of Service.
  • Help lead a strategy that converts high intent customers but also can engage with higher funnel prospects.
  • Handle key agency relationships, along with internal stakeholders to enable the highest standard of campaign ideation, production and execution.
  • Maintain a meticulous, multi-layered measurement framework for all campaign and off-site SEO.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of our content strategy to ensure SEO is a key component in its design and execution.
  • Devise and drive forward any technical SEO initiatives to improve organic visibility.
  • Lead and champion strong working relationships with key internal teams.
  • Stay atop of any major and relevant developments within the industry, assessing the potential impact for GoCompare and what plans are required to mitigate the risk or maximise the opportunity.
