Digital Tagging Engineer

The job in a nutshell

GoCo Group have an opportunity for an experienced Digital Tagging Engineer to work within a highly skilled Digital Tagging and Analytics team. We are automating digital data technology to navigate a postconsent world and play at a huge scale, ramping up the number of experiments we are running across all our business areas.

You will become a valued team member in designing and maintaining web analytics data to create an insightful data led view of how customers interact with the GoCo products through multiple channels.

Data is at the heart of GoCo Group’s success therefore, it is required that the individual has experience coding in JavaScript and ideally in HTML, in order to programme the origin of specific customer data sources. With a continually expanding tech stack, it’s desirable to have had integration with data science/growth teams to understand the full customer journey and how these link into predictive future behaviours. You will be a key individual in supporting the transformation of GoCo group’s digital data platforms.

Working within the GoCo data community, you will have excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and gain understanding of what data requirements they have regarding customer interaction and click through, to enable data centric decisions for the organisation. You will gain a sense of ownership in driving the pathway of tagging across the whole group business. Within this you will have the benefit of tailoring the approach the Digital tagging across a number of group businesses at varying stages of their growth journey, from tech start ups to more mature and established brands.

You will make a direct impact at GoCo, as an in-house specialist for digital tagging, being part of a high performing, well-respected team who are in charge of  sharing and joining data extensively with other teams in multiple segments of the business. This is a highly social role where you can build and manage professional and personable relationships throughout the business.

GoCo Group are committed to working with innovative and efficient technology platforms and this will enable exposure and integration to all major clouds and Google Tag Manager to clearly implement new solutions. In addition, we also utilise platforms such as Quantum Metric for data visualisation.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

  • Experience working with and/or qualification in one or more digital tagging platforms – Google Tag Manager preferred.
  • Experience working with and/or qualification in one or more web analytics platforms – Google Analytics preferred.
  • Strong technical understanding of JavaScript / jQuery, HTML and browser intricacies including consent management.
  • Awareness of agile software development methodologies
  • Great technical definition and documentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstratable experience of managing multiple stakeholders.
  • A keen eye for detail. Inquisitive and enquiring approach to problem solving. 

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Designs and maintains web analytics data collection specifications.
  • Working with the head of departments to formalize and deliver a data collection strategy and implementation plans.
  • Owns and manages multi-facetted relationships across multiple teams and is seen as the digital tagging subject matter expert.
  • Democratizes analytics data and insights throughout the organisation, empowering the brands within the group to make data centric decisions.
  • Understands end data users needs to translate their requirements into analytics Technical requirements
  • Works closely with the development team to prioritise and support the implementation of the tagging requirements.
  • Follows data collection standardisation and governance processes. Owning and maintaining a change log whilst reporting changes back to change control on a daily basis.
  • Work with the rest of the digital data team to implement tagging and tracking required for A/B testing, supporting analysis and reporting

Who you’ll be working with

  • Product – Working with product managers to design and develop digital data collection plans.
  • Marketing – Implementing all marketing tags to support ongoing and new campaigns for the group.
  • Engineering – Working alongside engineering to implement data layers and event tracking to power tagging technologies.
  • Data – Seen as the SME in digital data collection, will be relied upon as the expert who understands and can explain how the tracking technologies work.
