Trainee Auditor

The job in a nutshell

GoCompare are recruiting for a Trainee Auditor to work within our Newport office to support the Assurance team in carrying out end to end audits of external partners and provide revenue assurance, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation and analysis, that will directly impact upon company revenue and customer experience. 

This position would suit university leavers who are looking to start their careers within the auditing/accountancy field as well as commercially astute graduates with a passion for data and innovative ways of working.

You will have a basic understanding of Personal Lines Insurance, along with its risks and controls and will be comfortable communicating professionally with senior stakeholders in various mediums.

You will be assisting the team in providing audits on some of the UK’s biggest insurance companies, helping the shape the reviews to meet ever changing ways of working and potential risk. As your core audit skills develop, responsibilities will increase to leading audits end to end, co-ordinating internal resource and partner contacts during the onsite visits.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

You will ideally be someone who has a basic knowledge of the insurance market and GoCompare position within this from a consumer product offering. This role will require an awareness of perceived risk and controls and you will be able to understand the importance of an audit function and governance on customer experience and revenue.

You will have a highly analytical mindset and be able to apply a meticulous attention to detail when reviewing large amounts of data, using tools such as excel.

This role requires you to communicate with a variance of internal and external stakeholders and you will be able to articulate effectively your point of view, influence where required, communicate and present key findings and next actions.

What you’ll be responsible for

Your role will involve:

  • Supporting the delivery of individual audit assignments
  • Identifying weaknesses in controls and/or instances of non-compliance and proposes realistic and proportionate solutions
  • Supporting more senior members of the team in communicating positive and negative audit findings to external partners and internal stakeholders through verbal and written means.
  • Managing your own workload and meet agreed deadlines

Who you’ll be working with

  • Acts as a point of contact between the company Assurance team and audit stakeholders, including external partner contacts.
  • Consults with key staff in various other key departments including Partnerships, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Insight and Customer/Business Services.
