Head of Tech - B2B

The job in a nutshell

GoCo Group are on a mission to save people time and money in any way we can, and we have embarked upon a new business venture in the B2B financial sector. We are looking for a Tech guru to drive a tech start up entity within the group, to become a key driving force in establishing strategic partnerships with leading financial businesses.

Within this role you will have an opportunity to revolutionise the way in which consumers engage with the banking sector and succinctly identify savings across their everyday bills, expenses, financial and insurance products. You will become the technical advocate within this new venture and through a consultative approach, be able to act as a lynch pin between the product, tech teams and external partners to effectively find solutions within the architecture and turn this service offering into a technical reality.

You will be responsible for interfacing with Tech Strategy to drive the Group architecture.

You will have strong external client facing experience and through confidently driving technical concepts that will innovative the use of API’s and tech solutions, be able to successfully deliver a new and exciting software as a service (SaaS) product.

You will have a technical ability that enables you to on-board banking sector clients and face off with their high performing technical teams, to create solutions that will turn the banking requirements into something tangible they can use to offer better savings to their customers.

The role sits alongside the B2B Product and Business Development Director as a key pillar to this new business venture within the flexible support of a technical team within the GoCo Group.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

  • Demonstrable history of designing and implementing API products that are sold to other businesses.
  • Experience defining tech strategy and vision.Experience leading and delivering through others.
  • Capability of at least two modern programming languages such as C#, PHP, Scala, Java, JavaScript, Ruby or Elixir.
  • OO/FP design and development skills (SOLID, DRY, patterns etc).
  • Ability to work in a complex, agile environment.
  • Ability to assess cross functional and technical risks to delivery.
  • Understanding of web/software performance with ability to guide teams to reach objectives.
  • Experience designing financial services technical solutions in a regulated industry.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Defines and designs technology solutions in line with the Group SaveStack architecture.
  • Compiles service documentation.
  • Presents and demos technical features and concepts to technical and non-technical business partners.
  • Investigates data sources, internal and external.
  • Understands platform and organisational dependencies.
  • Acts as the SME at third party meetings.
  • Collaborates with business partner engineering teams.
  • Builds developer tools, client libraries, and reference integrations to continuously improve the developer experience.
  • Provides feedback on API design, platform consistency, and functionality.
  • Advocates for the needs of our partner developer community; bringing their feedback back to the implementation team.
