Would you like to lead a DataIQ award winning Data Science team that combines innovate state of the start automation with sophisticated algorithms to identify significant savings for our customers? Are you driven by the ability to deliver high-value data science initiatives across GoCo Group and actionable solutions across multiple brands?

As Head of Data Science, you will take strategic ownership of data science projects that aim to create a more personalised, data-driven experience that will transform the tech comparison world for insurance, financial services and utilities.

Data is the backbone to GoCo Group's success and at the heart of everything we do! It enables us to understand our customers and actively offer savings rather than waiting for them to come and see us. You will be instrumental in utilising leading data science techniques to develop and implement end-to-end best practices covering model design, development, management, test and deployment. Your team will be instrumental in finding correlations and patterns in the data which can help us make decisions about sales, marketing and our performance.

You will lead a high performing and award winning data team that recognises artificial intelligence and machine learning as the future for the Fintech market. 

You will have the opportunity to drive delivery of ground-up in-house data services using the GoCo Group data platform, algorithms and an event based architecture to drive automated communications that will evolve independently overtime. GoCo has a sophisticated Azure Cloud-based group data platform that incorporates a data factory to orchestrate data distribution, a data lake, and a data transformation, streaming, processing and machine learning platform. You will also drive the creation and implementation of best practice for statistical modelling, analysis, machine learning and processes.

You will work with latest technologies in Python, Spark, machine learning, AI, Panda, Numpy to name a few.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

  • MSc / PhD in data science, machine learning, computer science or related fields
  • Experience in leading and developing high performing data science teams and delivering advanced analytics solutions in large scale cloud environment.
  • Experience of delivering successful and high-value data science initiatives within an organisation.
  • Outstanding stakeholder, demand and resource management skills and great communication skills.
  • Machine learning experience, with commercial experience using for example, regression, decision trees, random forests, boosting, clustering, GLM.
  • Deep learning experience is desirable.
  • Experience using programming languages and tools such as Python, Spark, R, Tensorflow.
  • Data story teller with an appreciation for both the power and limits of data.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Leads the data science strategy and capability to deliver actionable solutions across multiple brands.
  • Works with senior stakeholders across the company to proactively identify and implement advanced analytics solutions for driving business value.
  • Assists in building a robust group data platform.
  • Develops and implements end-to-end best practices covering model design, development, management, test and deployment.
  • Continuously innovates and drives thought leadership to evolve machine learning capabilities to support business strategy.
  • Ensures thorough and robust feedback and monitoring loops exist for all solutions deployed.
  • Strong delivery capability – able to get things done and work under pressure in a dynamic and fast changing environment.
  • Drives the creation and implementation of best practices for statistical modelling, analysis, machine learning and processes.
