Delivery Manager - Agile

The job in a nutshell

Are you from a technical background working within roles such as Product Owner, Senior Engineer or Solution Architect and have experience in driving forward delivery of technology and business change projects? Are you focused on identifying technical delivery priorities and enabling more efficient delivery through prioritisation of technical projects within an Agile environment? 

You will have technical experience working within a high performing engineering culture and own the delivery plan according to agile / SCRUM practices. You will work through delivery backlogs and effectively prioritise work items, solve complex problems hindering delivery and largely collaborating with multi-functional teams to be accountable for project success.

This role will require a sound knowledge of project and budget planning, along with the ability to be technically sound in working with lead engineers to create fit for purpose or innovative new solutions.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

  • Senior engineering experience within GoCompare Group or an equivalent external role.
  • Experience working within project teams.
  • Experience of working on Agile and Waterfall projects..
  • Strong interface management skills with multiple external stakeholders.
  • Online/digital/direct-to-consumer industry experience.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Risk identification and management skills.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Owns the delivery of initiative-related work, ensuring effective use of engineering squads.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and Product Management to understand and deliver against proposition goals.
  • Manages stakeholders both internal and external to ensure sprint delivery.
  • Owns the delivery plan and provides reporting to overall programme plans
  • Removes impediments and blockers and resolves complex problems.
  • Organises and prioritises work items through a Delivery Backlog.
  • Delivers according to Agile / Lean principles.
  • Ensures timescales, budgetary and quality standards are met.
  • Works in partnership with a Lead Engineer to create solutions.
  • Manages escalations and ensures efficient communication.
  • Manages delivery risks to minimise the company’s exposure.
  • Manages and controls project budgets to ensure costs and benefits are controlled.
  • Accountable for project success.

Who you’ll be working with

  • Liaises with project business owners and commercial partners.
  • Technology teams and Squads.
  • Liaises with team managers to determine project resource.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders on 3rd party supplier engagement for projects.
  • Communicates with external partners and suppliers to enable 3rd party solution delivery to the project plan.
