The job in a nutshell

We have an exceptional opportunity to join our small but pivotal Legal team in the role of Group Legal Counsel.

Reporting to the Group Legal Director, this role will be responsible for providing the business an effective legal advice and service. This will include the delivery of legal advice on corporate and strategy matters, commercial contract work, brand and intellectual property work and general legal risk management.

In the past 12 months we have acquired two businesses and launched a new one, forming the GoCo Group, meaning this is a rare opportunity to work across several businesses.

This role is ideal for a NQ - 2PQE In-house Counsel but equally suitable for a practising solicitor in a corporate/commercial firm or a solicitor or barrister already undertaking an in-house role.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

You will be an Admitted Solicitor (or Barrister) with a current practicing certificate and someone with an ability in an in-house or large regional commercial setting.

You will have general commercial contract and data protection experience, and ideally exposure to intellectual property, corporate and/or media/advertising law. M&A experience is helpful in this role.

What you’ll be responsible for

This is a hugely varied role which will encompass duties across M&A activity, Intellectual Property corporate contract and employment Law, liaising with external Lawyers as needed.

On a daily basis you will be required to undertake and help to manage general commercial and contract work including the onboarding and ongoing management of new partners/service providers and data protection matters.

You will advise on, draft and review media contracts relating to media buying, creative production, advertising, engagement of artists etc and advise on legal implications of the Group’s promotions and other media related matters.

As legal counsel it is expected you will remain aware of and up-to-date on legal developments and understanding and communicating their implications to the business.

Additionally, you will contribute to the due diligence process relating to new insurance partners and service providers.
