Strategy Development Lead

The job in a nutshell

This is an exciting new role being created within the Strategy & Investments team with the aim to help drive the agenda for organic and inorganic growth across the GoCompare Group. Our vision within S&I is to partner with creative and market leading businesses that can contribute towards GoCompare's mission to help customers everywhere save time and money - and we are not afraid to disrupt new markets to achieve this end goal for our customers.

 

This role will have the responsibility to explore exciting new strategic partnerships across multiple industries from retail to media to fintech. The ideal candidate will likely have spent time in a leading strategy consultancy before gaining commercial experience in a corporate environment. Through this they will have developed the ability to help identify strategic opportunities within GoCompare and then translate that insight into tangible commercial prospects. They will seamlessly transition between understanding the high-level strategic business requirements and the detailed negotiation & contract management skills required to get the deal closed.  They will evaluate and prioritise partnerships, craft deals and negotiate contracts - with an inherent understanding of the key negotiation levers available. Post-deal their involvement is likely to continue, working on the 100-day plan and ensuring a smooth hand-off into the business.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

The successful applicant will have a proven background of both strategy consulting and developing the business with strategic partners. As an exceptional communicator you will also have strong influencing skills with the ability to engage at CxO level. You will have excellent commercial acumen with B2B experience and be able to confidently negotiate and close strategic partnership deals. Having worked within a digital, e-commerce or online publishing organisations is advantageous.

  • Be educated to degree level
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking
  • Have a proven ability to manage a sales pipeline, from origination to close
  • Have high intellectual curiosity and real passion for technology and entrepreneurship
  • Have a strong existing network

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Lead strategic decision-making for marketing, product, commercial functions and finance to support the growth of the core business
  • Assess and challenge the commercial viability of new strategic partnership proposals to ensure they are consistent with overall business strategy
  • Lead the initial origination, engagement and negotiation with key strategic partners
  • Develop a strong network within the fintech & insure tech eco-system in Europe
  • Support 100 day plan post-deal, including transition of project / relationship into the business
