The job in a nutshell

We have an exceptional opportunity for someone to join our talented team in the role of  Database Administrator.

The primary responsibility it to support the organisation’s system databases to ensure their performance, availability and security.

Skills and experience you’ll need to have

•Educated to degree level and/or relevant work experience.

•Certified Microsoft professional.

•Experienced production database administration covering Microsoft SQL Server 2016, including both Standard and Enterprise editions.

•Excellent knowledge of MS SQL Server Clustering, LogShipping, Replication and/or AOAG.

•Excellent understanding of performance/capacity tuning/monitoring, optimisation, diagnosing and rectifying performance related problems

•Excellent T-SQL skills, Index strategies, including both query and server optimisation

•Solid understanding of storage IO with previous experience on SAN storage

•Solid understanding of Windows clustering on Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016.

•Solid understanding of Cloud based Database solutions.

•Understanding of Oracle MySQL. Any specific experience of AWS Managed Instances would be beneficial

What you’ll be responsible for

•Ensures the stability and availability of production databases within agreed targets.

•Implements and releases database changes to support on-going and future business requirements.

•Ensures the quality of all database work being forwarded for promotion through the build environments to production.

•Monitors the production, development and test of databases for performance to ensure that future volume is handled as required.
